AMPHORA
Gli antichi greci dicevano: “ un vaso per essere bello deve essere funzionale e per essere funzionale deve essere bello.” L’anfora è il piu antico oggetto di packaging creato dall’uomo, èun antico e tuttora usato “mezzo d’imballaggio”. Questa la disfunzione: il packaging prodotto attraverso un completo processo industriale, diventa solo oggetto decorativo, privato della propria funzione contenitiva attraverso una saldatura che lo rende vuoto e chiuso. Perché mediterranea? Perche i fondali del nostro mare sono pieni di queste anfore. L’anfora nasce come contenitore, come oggetto utile per il lavoro dell’uomo; è semplice, funzionale, rispecchia la tradizione, l’ingegno dei vari popoli che si affacciavano sul mediterraneo, il senso della razionalità, l’evolversi nei secoli delle culture secondo i mutamenti politici ed economici. Le antiche anfore che si trovano nei nostri mari sono, nelle loro piu svariate forme, qualcosa di bello, elegante e funzionale.
The ancient Greeks used to say : ” A vase to be nice must be functional and to be functional it must be nice . ” The amphora is the oldest man-made packaging object , it is ancient and is still used as a ” packing object .” This is the dysfunction: the packaging which is manufactured only through a complete industrial process, it becomes a decorative object , deprived of their containing function through a weld which makes it empty and close. Why Mediterranean ? Because the depths of our seas are full of these amphorae . The amphora was born as a case ( o container) , such as an useful object for men work, is simple, is functional, it reflects the tradition, the smartness of the various peoples that used to face the Mediterranean, the sense of rationality, the evolution of cultures over the centuries according to the political and economic changes . The ancient amphorae that are located in our seas, are with their most various shapes something beautiful, elegant and functional.

Cura progetti di grafica, prodotto, interni, allestimento e non solo. È del 2011 l’ultima design performance “Paris Eat’s Design” che si è svolta in occasione dell’apertura del nuovo LAGO Store di Parigi. Tutto ciò che progetta nasce dall’attenzione a ciò che gli sta intorno, animato ed inanimato. Se esiste un limite tra arte e design prova a cancellarlo e cerca di disegnare tutta la complicità possibile tra uomo e oggetto. Per questo crede che la ritualità, la memoria e l’immaginazione siano spesso la funzione necessaria delle cose.

His projects include graphic, product, interior design, exhibition fittings and more. His last performance “Paris Eat’s Design” took place in Paris during the opening of the new LAGO store, 2011. Everything he designs comes from the attention towards what’s around him, living or inanimate. If there is a limit between art and design, he tries to erase it and re-design all the existing complicity among human beings and objects. This is the reason why he believes that rituals, memory and imagination are often the essential function of things.
