L’INGANNO DELL’OCCHIO

Una collezione di oggetti distorti che esplora i fenomeni legati alla percezione visiva. La prospettiva propone una rappresentazione mimetica del reale ma per fare ciò ricorre a espedienti e artifizi, rappresenta gli oggetti come li percepiscono i nostri occhi, non come realmente sono. Il nostro occhio distorce la realtà, fa apparire convergenti due rette parallele, ci inganna. E’ una disfunzione di cui l’uomo moderno è inconsapevole, educato alle rappresentazioni prospettiche e alla fotografia. Ma l’inganno degli occhi è costato anni di studi e di ricerche agli artisti del Rinascimento, i primi a codificare le esperienze e le intuizioni sulla rappresentazione della profondità. In Perspectiva la distorsione prospettica diventa reale, non è più solo un fenomeno legato alla percezione visiva. Gli oggetti della collezione disvelano l’inganno dell’occhio in essi racchiuso. I primi pezzi della collezione, che verranno presentati durante la Milan Design Week, sono un vassoio e un centrotavola, rispettivamente distorsione prospettica di un rettangolo e di un esagono. I pezzi affiancano la purezza delle superfici in ottone nichelato nero alla matericità del legno di frassino tinto nero.

TRICK OF THE EYE

A set of distorted objects that explores phenomena due to visual perception. Perspective aims to provide a mimesis of reality resorting to expedients and devices, represents things as they are seen by the eye, not as they really are. Our eye bends the truth, lies to us finding the intersection of two parallel straight lines. Today we are unconscious of this dysfunction, our mind has been trained in perspective perception through 3d representation and photography. This eye trick required several years of studies and researches to Renaissance artists, the first to codify experiences and intuitions about representation of depth.

In Perspectiva distortion becomes concrete, it’s not just a phenomenon due to visual perception. The object unveils the eye trick held on itself. During next Milan Design Week, Alhambretto will present two pieces of Perspectiva collection: a tray and a centerpiece, respectively the perspective distortion of a rectangle and an hexagon.

The collection places side by side the clearness of the nickel-plated brass surfaces and the texture of the ash wood black-dyed.
